Ruins of the Pink Pavilion

A romantic pavilion with a tower on the site of Peter's guardhouse.
The Ozerki Pavilion, which everyone calls the Pink Pavilion, stands on the narrow strip between the Samson Basin and the Round Pond — right at the start of the conduit. There was once a guardhouse here for sailors watching the sluices. In 1845 Stackenschneider built a pavilion on this spot: two single-storey volumes with a gallery and a three-storey tower with a colonnade, from which one looked out over the surroundings. At the entrance stood a marble Sleeping Nymph, and the cornice was decorated with lions' heads. Today the pavilion is in ruins, but the silhouette of the tower above the water is still beautiful. The picture shows a watercolour by Luigi Premazzi: this is how it looked under Nicholas I.

💧 Where the water flows from: Lugovoy Park and Babigon
A long walk south through deserted parks: the start of the fountain water conduit, the ruins of the Rose Pavilion, meadows with ponds and the "temple on a podium" on Babigon Hill. You can take a bus back.
