Palace of Peter III

A tiny palace in the emperor's toy fortress; he ruled for six months.
The future Peter III, while still heir, built a toy fortress, Peterstadt, in Oranienbaum and marched there with his Holstein soldiers. Inside the fortress, Rinaldi erected a small two-story palace for him — more like a mansion. Peter III reigned for only six months and in 1762 was overthrown by his own wife, the future Catherine the Great; a few days later he died in Ropsha. The palace has preserved intimate interiors with lacquer paintings. All that remains of the fortress are the ramparts and gates.

🏯 Oranienbaum: palaces that never saw war
The only suburb not captured during the war: the authentic Rococo of the Chinese Palace, the pavilion of a giant "American mountain" slide, Peter III's toy fortress and Menshikov's palace.
