Kronstadt Naval Cathedral

A monument to all sailors who died in service. The main church of the fleet.
The largest of the naval cathedrals of the Russian Empire was built in 1903–1913 according to the design of architect Kosyakov in the Neo-Byzantine style — modeled on Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. It was conceived as a monument to all ranks of the fleet who died in the line of duty: on the walls are black plaques with names. Money was collected by public subscription. In Soviet times the cathedral housed a cinema and a fleet museum, and in 2013, after restoration, it again became the main church of the Navy. Note the floor: it depicts ships and sea creatures.
