Church of Tsarina Alexandra

The last building of the Meadow Park, on the top of Babigon.
Next to the Belvedere, on the top of Babigon Hill, stands the white five-domed church of the Holy Martyr Tsarina Alexandra. On April 25, 1851, Stackenschneider received the order to draft a project for a "small Orthodox five-domed church" on the Babigon Heights. Already on August 11 of the same year, the foundation stone was laid in the presence of Nicholas I, the entire august family, the suite, and the surrounding peasants. The church became the last building of the Meadow Park and, as it were, the final point in its history. Formally, it already stands in the village of Nizino, outside the city limits.
Walks in Peterhof / Day trips
💧 Where the water flows from: Lugovoy Park and Babigon
A long walk south through deserted parks: the start of the fountain water conduit, the ruins of the Rose Pavilion, meadows with ponds and the "temple on a podium" on Babigon Hill. You can take a bus back.
