Znamenka Estate

An estate of nine owners on the Peterhof Road.
Znamenka is an example of how the Peterhof Road lived: a chain of estates from Petersburg to Oranienbaum. Over two centuries Znamenka had almost ten owners: the stolnik Rzhevsky, the Counts Razumovsky, Count Shuvalov, Senator Myatlev, then Empress Alexandra Feodorovna and the grand dukes. Under Alexei Razumovsky, the secret husband of Empress Elizabeth, a palace and a church were built here. After the revolution, Soviet institutions occupied the estate, then for many years it was a sanatorium, and now the territory is closed. The park is part of the «Southern Coast of the Neva Bay» nature reserve. The palace itself is clearly visible from the highway through the gates.
