🗝️ Secret Peterhof

A station where a trophy carriage served as the ticket office.

An ordinary-looking suburban train station with an unusual history. The stone station building of 1898 was criticized by the magazine «Nedelya Stroitelya»: «the architecture is of very dubious merit, and yet with great pretension». During the war all the buildings were destroyed, and for almost ten years after it there was no building at all: a trophy freight carriage, taken off its wheels and placed behind the platform, served as the ticket office. And in 1933, it was through this station that the first electrified section of the October Railway ran — from Baltiysky railway station to Oranienbaum. From here it is convenient to travel to Saint Petersburg, Oranienbaum, and westward along the coast.

Tip: To Baltiysky railway station — about 40 minutes by suburban train. Next to the station is the English Park.
