A grand duke's dacha that became a business school campus.
The next estate on the Peterhof Road belonged to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich, the youngest son of Nicholas I. The palace was built in the mid-19th century by the same Stackenschneider — the chief architect of Nicholas-era Peterhof. After the revolution the estate emptied and fell into decay, and in our days it has been restored for the Graduate School of Management of St Petersburg University. The result is a rare case of a ruined estate coming back to life not as a museum but as a living campus: students study in the former imperial wings.
Tip: The campus grounds are sometimes closed to outsiders; the park and the view of the palace can be seen from the road along the fence.
